Signing Up for Events
You'll begin forming your groups and choosing your events in August.
Before officially signing up, every event must attend a 20-minute workshop in which you'll be expected to:
-
have every member of your group present
-
be at least 75% off-book (acting scenes)
-
have a copy of your script (acting scenes)
-
have a blueprint or basic design (tech scenes)
-
karaoke music ready (musical scenes)
-
background music ready (pantomimes)
-
be ready to discuss your rehearsal/preparation/time management plans
-
discuss asterisks for any community-standard violations
Note
Attending a workshop does not guarantee you a spot at Districts. You may still need to contest your event if more than 5 groups in your category sign up.
Dropping Events
Do not sign up for an event unless you are prepared to see it through!
If you drop (quit) an event after you've submitted your registration paperwork, then:
-
you will be charged $20 by District 14
-
every member of your group will be banned from auditioning for the next Spring Play and/or working as a Designer for a technical crew*
* unless there is an extraordinary life event out of your control (broken leg, death in family, etc.)
Super-Big Drop Note
You are not permitted to drop (quit) an event AFTER our troupe registers on the actual day of competition day. Doing so will result in immediate suspension from Thespians until you have earned 10 Thespian points to regain your membership. In addition, Troupe 6172 may be assigned sanctions as a troupe by District 14 that could include financial penalties and/or being disqualified from events.
